Camila Osorio Biography: Her Journey to Becoming a Tennis Star

    Camila Osorio was born in Cucuta, Colombia, on 22nd December 2001. She is the granddaughter of the former Colombian national team player, Serrano Rolando. Camila osorio was raised in Cucuta, where she studied and completed her high school education. Her grandfather Rolando Serrano has a rich sporting background that motivated her to pursue a career in tennis. She enrolled in tennis classes at the tender age of 11 and participated in several junior competitions.

    She was inspired by Mariana Dugue Marino, who made her fall in love with tennis racquets at a tender age. At 11, she went to the U.S. to learn how to play tennis, and she is now a professional tennis player with the highest rank of 67./33 in singles and 283/283 in doubles. Camila is 5 ft and 7 inches tall and lives in Cucuta, Colombia. She is a right-handed player.

    The women’s tennis association has ranked the star 33 in singles and 477 in doubles. Camila has won three singles titles ( ITF ) Circuit and one single title (WTA).
    She is now 20 years old and has several titles under her name. She won the U.S. Open girls singles title in 2019 after defeating Alexandra Yepifanova in the final. During the tournament, she only lost one game. Camila is ranked number one on the ITF junior circuit, which she achieved in September 2019.

    She also won a bronze medal in girl’s singles in the Summer Youth Olympics (2018). She played alongside Nicolas Mejia in the same tournament to win a silver medal in a mixed double.

    Her professional career saw her participate in the Maiden WTA Tour Title, Grand slam, and top100 in 2021. She participated in the 2021 French Open, where she beat Tamara Zidansek in the final in Colombia to win her first singles title. Camila also reached the semi-final in the Charleston Open. In May 2021, she reached the semi-final in the Serbia Open. The performances catapulted her into the top 100 slots.

    2021 was a good year for Camila as she qualified for the French Open, results which enabled her to secure a Grand Slam debut. Unfortunately, she lost to Madison Brengle in the first round. But In June 2021, she qualified for the Wimbledon Championships, reaching the third round after defeating Ekaterina Alexandrova and Anna Kalinsskaya. Unfortunately, again, she lost to second seed Aryna Sabalenks.

    She completed her professional season by playing in the Tenerife Open final, where she lost to Ann Li. In the match against Li, she sustained an injury that affected her game, resulting in a loss. However, her success in the tournament enabled her to ranked no.53.

    In 2022, she participated in the Australia Open, WTA final, and top 40. She was also accepted in the 2022 Monterrey Open, reaching the finalist and third WTA level singles. She lost to second seed Leylah Annie Fernandez who is also a runner-up in the 2021 U.S. open.

Osorio says that Mariana texted and congratulated her on the victory. She says that she is glad that kids are asking for an autograph with her which she hopes will motivate them to become tennis stars.

    At 17, she became the U.S. Open girl’s champion. She also became the junior world champion. When Camila Osorio is not on the court, she is gregarious and likes discussing issues in Spanish and English. She smiles a lot when off the court and enjoys everything she does.
